Niklaus Troxler (1947- ), a giant of Swiss graphic design, works with unusual layouts, clever illustration and expressive typography. He avoids the rigid grids and standardized typography favored by many of his Swiss predecessors. His poster designs, particularly his posters for the jazz festival he organized for many years in his hometown of Willisau, Switzerland, have won him international awards and recognition.
In this poster for an exhibition of his own work, Troxler relies on typography alone to convey the idea of overlapping posters.
This poster is in the collection of Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
