This poster for a 1973 exhibition at the Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin features an abstract composition by graphic designer and painter Walter Allner (1909-2006). Allner studied at the Bauhaus in Dessau from 1927 to 1930 and he later worked in Paris with leading poster artists Jean Carlu and A. M. Cassandre. Allner immigrated to the United States in 1949 and served as art director of Fortune magazine from 1962 to 1974. He also worked as an abstract painter, and he took an early interest in the use of computers in graphic design.
