Dutch designer Daan Rietbergen (1988) worked at Studio Dumbar from 2014 to 2019 and now works independently out of his Utrecht studio. His work focuses on visual identity, typography and poster design. While at Studio Dumbar, Rietbergen designed a series of posters for the Amsterdam Sinfonietta, an internationally renowned music ensemble and longtime Studio Dumbar client. His typographically-driven posters were honored as winners in the Type Director’s Club annual design competition in 2019.

This poster advertises a concert featuring works by composers Arvo Pärt and John Tavener, both of whom write in the “spiritual minimalist” style and are influenced by the Eastern Orthodox religion. For his design, Rietbergen skillfully arranged the typography within the two overlapping circles so as to evoke the halo imagery of Eastern Orthodoxy.
