The London Design Museum invited graphic designer Sasha Lobe, a partner at Pentagram, to design a painted pedestrian crosswalk near the museum in honor of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus. Lobe’s crosswalk design celebrates the women who studied and worked at the German school and whose contributions have often been overlooked. In addition to the street art, Lobe also produced this limited-edition print featuring the crosswalk design.

Lobe’s typographic design features the names of Bauhaus designers including Anni Albers, Marianne Brandt and Ise Gropius, written in a typeface created for the Bauhaus Archiv in Berlin by Lobe and his team at L2M3, the German design firm he founded in 1999. The typeface, called Bayer Next, pays homage to the typeface most closely associated with the Bauhaus – Herbert Bayer’s Universal alphabet from 1925. Bayer Next also includes over 500 non-alphabetical glyphs, many of which appear in the poster.

The poster is silkscreened on heavy paper and is signed and stamped by Sascha Lobe.
