Paula Scher (1948-) is one of the most influential and celebrated graphic designers in the United States and internationally. Scher found success in the early part of her career designing album covers, and she became known for her expressive and illustrative use of typography. Scher has been a partner at Pentagram in New York since 1991. She has designed identities for both arts organizations (the Public Theater, Jazz at Lincoln Center, the New York City ballet) and large corporations (Citibank, Bloomberg, Tiffany’s). Her logos and identity systems are some of the most recognizable in the world.

Scher designed this poster as an advertisement for Ambassador Arts, a silkscreen printing company in Long Island, New York. It is printed on very thin but well-preserved newsprint, adding to its interest as a collector’s item.
