Jan Bons (1918-2012), a venerated figure in Dutch graphic design, produced illustrative, expressive posters – in contrast to the stricter modernist approach of many of his fellow Dutch designers. For many years, Bons designed the posters for the annual International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam. He used this charming, hand-worked image of a video camera as a starting point for each year’s poster, varying the colors and composition to produce a unique but recognizable advertisement every year.
